It is not uncommon for new restorations to be sensitive to biting or temperature changes for several days or weeks. Anytime there is decay, tooth fracture, or dental work done, there is damage to the nerve of the tooth. The goal of the treatment is to save the tooth. Sometimes a tooth will not respond to treatment and may need a root canal or extraction.
If you ever have a tooth that has pain to temperature changes lasting 10 minutes or longer, or if the tooth just starts aching or keeps you up at night, call our office for an evaluation.
